By Subway:

Take the IRT #2 or #3 to 135th Street
New York City subway map

By Bus:

Take the M7 or M12 to 135th Street

By Car:

From Downtown Manhattan:

Take the FDR Drive (also called the East Side Drive) to Harlem River Drive. Harlem River Drive to 135th Street. Proceed two blocks west to Malcolm X Blvd. (Lenox Ave.)

OR:

Take the West Side Drive to 125th Street Exit. Go east to Malcolm X Blvd. (Lenox Ave.). Turn Right. Drive 10 blocks to 135th Street. The Schomburg Center is directly across the street from Harlem Hospital.

From Connecticut:

Take Interstate 87 (Major Deegan Expressway) to Madison Avenue Bridge (138th Street Exit). Go one block west to Malcolm X Blvd. Turn left and proceed to 135th Street.

From New Jersey:

(closet route to the Schomburg from NJ) Take the George Washington Bridge to the Harlem River Drive. Drive West approximately two blocks to Malcolm X Blvd. Turn left and drive three blocks to 135th Street.
