Black Borders is a collection of portraits of artist, writers and musicians that were photographed from 1975 to 1980.This series won a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1980 and consist of some giants in the arts working at that time. Amiri Baraka, James Baldwin, Romare Bearden, Lester Bowie, Ornette Coleman, Marvin Hagler, Michael Jackson, Miriam Makeba and Hugh Maskela, Ntozake Shange, Toukie Smith, Thayais, Dereck Walcott and the World Saxophone Quartet.
