Wayne Clarke: J'ouvert Morning
Wayne became interested in photography when he was 12 years old, at which
time he received his first camera. By age 13, Wayne had his first
darkroom. A student of the medium ever since, he has studied
extensively at several schools and with masters of photography. His
doumentation of his of years spent in Vietnam, and his years working
in the New York hospitals are products of his professional experience.
His photographic genius though illuminates with his thirty five
years love affair with the West Indian culture, in particular Jouve
Morning, and The Labor Day Parade in Brooklyn New York. His Jouve
Morning images captures the fleeting moments of mysterious characters
whose fantases lives and dies in the early morning eve of labor day
each year.
"I have neither a sophisticated philosophy nor Zen enlightenment to
explain why I photograph the way I do."
Wayne Clarke has been a guest lecturer at Phillipa Schuyler Middle
School, Boycelyn Global Ventures, Bedford Styvesant Camera Club,
Skylight Gallery and Brooklyn College. He has also been an instructor
at Bedford Stuyvesant Camera Club as well as privately.Wayne Clarke
currently resides and operate his photo studio in Brooklyn, New York.
